Graphic Design For Brand
Graphic design is key when creating a brand – the work goes beyond the visual to considerations that include functionality for a connected result. We help our clients by designing graphics systematically – enabling them to be re-used again and again across different media for a great continual result.
Graphic Design For Marketing
Marketing your business means understanding your business, your business environment, your audience and your competitors. We work with our clients to create compelling marketing material – whether its online or at a trade show, we can help you stand out in the crowd.
Graphic Design for Communication
Getting your message looking and feeling right is what graphic design is all about! In today’s high-speed world of communication, how something looks can be more important than what it actually says. Otherwise, it may not be read at all!
Graphic Web Design
In terms of web design, graphic design has an important role to play. Unlike some other aspects of website design which have shifted from coding to WYSIWYG, making something look ‘right’ remains an art and that’s what graphic design is here to address.
To use web graphics or images, there are some considerations to take into account. We are experienced working with different graphic requirements – we’re available to help your business present itself exceptionally online. Here are some of the common web-graphic methods that it’s always good to keep in mind: image quality, image optimisation, layout, responsiveness, and multiple usage.
High quality images are an essential starting point when working with photographic images. There are two parts to this – by high-quality, we mean pictures that both look great and are of a sufficient size. The trick with images is that they can be scaled down in size but not the other way around. So it’s important to ensure that your images are of sufficient quality and size at the beginning. They can then be scaled down in size (see Image Optimisation below) for use on your website.
To help our clients get great images to represent their business, we offer photography services enabling you to capture the best side of your business for promotion and presentation into the future. Otherwise, we can help you select and vet images suitable for their intended purpose and ensure that the quality is sufficient.
While it is great to start off with large images, when they’re being used on a website they will need to be optimised for that space. Images must be no larger than their intended space (or their intended purpose, should that be a different size). That means they need to be downsized to suit their use. It’s important to deliver images in as small a size as possible to ensure that the web-page load time is kept as short as possible, and to limit the amount of information that needs to be downloaded to see the web-page. We can optimise your images for you and ensure they will be ready to display well online.
Some images are portrait and some are landscape. Some are square and some have round corners! Knowing your layout requirements at the beginning is very important. Otherwise you may find that several steps have been taken (and must be re-taken) because the images and processes that have been used are not compatible with the layout requirements. Using differently oriented images on a website is an occasion where using large enough images at the beginning pays dividends, because the images can be used in more versatile ways than if they were small ones.
An image that looks great in a spot may not work so well when viewed on a different device. It’s important to come to terms with the responsive method of the web-system in use to ensure that images are optimised for size AND spaces too.
In the organisation of images for marketing purposes, all of the above points must be applied to multiple scenarios. The image size requirements for a website will be different for Facebook or elsewhere. Taking this into consideration at the beginning can always save a lot of time.
